Indonesian Shuttlers Climb World Rankings

KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian shuttlers made notable gains in the latest world rankings, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) list released on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

Men’s doubles pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani rose to eighth in the world from tenth, following their quarterfinal appearance at the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals.

Fellow men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri climbed two places to sixth despite failing to advance beyond the group stage of the same tournament.

In men’s singles, Jonatan Christie moved up one spot to fourth in the world rankings. Women’s singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani also rose one place to sixth, after consistent performances throughout the season, including semifinal finishes at several tournaments and runner-up results at the 2025 Hylo Open and the 2025 Australian Open. She and Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon each advanced one position.

Indonesia continues to maintain a strong presence in the top 10, with women’s doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, as well as mixed doubles pair Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, holding their places.

Other Indonesian players also recorded notable improvements. Men’s doubles pair Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Rahmat Hidayat climbed from 104th to 81st after winning the 2025 Astana International Challenge.

Ali Faathir Rayhan and Devin Artha Wahyudi are now ranked 64th, while Anselmus Breagit Fredy Prasetya and Pulung Ramadhan sit at 74th.

In men’s singles, rising talents Muhamad Yusuf and Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo also improved their standings. Yusuf, champion of the 2025 Astana International Challenge, jumped five places to 52nd, while Bagas, runner-up at the same event, climbed two places to 49th.

In women’s singles, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan rose to 74th, while Dalila Aghnia Puteri recorded a significant leap of 24 places to 120th. In women’s doubles, Lanny Tria Mayasari and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi climbed five places to 64th.

In mixed doubles, Bimo Prasetyo and Arlya Nabila Thesya Munggaran advanced two places to 50th after winning the Astana International Challenge, while Nawaf Khoiriyansyah and Nahya Muhyifa rose three places to 57th. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
