BNPB Speeds Up Logistics and Housing Fund Relief

KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian government, through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), continues to expedite the fulfilment of rights for disaster victims in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh. The current focus includes optimizing logistical distribution efficiency and providing more transparent disbursement of Housing Waiting Funds.

Head of the Data, Information, and Communication Center of the Agency, Abdul Muhari, stated the current progress in a press conference about the disaster relief update in Jakarta, Monday (12/29/2025).

He stated that BNPB enforces a strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) limiting the transit time of goods to a maximum of 48 hours before distribution. According to him, logistical aid must not linger in storage.

“In general, logistics from the Halim Command Post alone has received 1,500 tons and delivered 1,526 tons this month, with a distribution rate of 97 percent,” Muhari explained about the distribution progress from the headquarters in Jakarta. Regional posts showed similar efficiency, with Silangit (North Sumatra) hitting 98.2 percent, West Sumatra at 93.5 percent, and Iskandar Muda (Aceh) at 80.93 percent. “So our distribution rate at each command post is above 80 percent,” he said.

In addition to logistics, BNPB has begun disbursing Housing Waiting Funds of IDR 600,000 (approximately 36 USD) per household per month. For the first phase, 16.264 households have been verified using By Name By Address (BNBA) data, cross-referenced with the Ministry of Home Affairs' biometric database.

The use of biometric data, which includes photos and fingerprints, aims to assist residents who lost their physical ID cards during the disaster. Displaced residents no longer need to queue at banks or provide physical documents to claim their aid.

Phase I disbursement is scheduled from tomorrow December 30, 2025 until January 2, 2026. “The bank, together with the sub-district and village governments, will begin to take action so that our brothers and sisters who choose to live with family or rent a place, et cetera, can obtain their rights to housing," he stated.

The banks in this case are state-owned banks. Meanwhile, data collection for the second phase continues simultaneously to ensure that all eligible residents receive assistance without delay.
