KBRN, Jakarta: Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri), Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, accelerated the disaster recovery in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Following reports from provincial police chiefs regarding critical needs on the ground, the National Police are deploying heavy machinery and constructing hundreds of clean water facilities across affected regencies to restore public infrastructure and basic services
“From the reports of the Regional Police Chiefs, we need acceleration by involving and increasing the amount of heavy equipment already available,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
Regarding the Aceh region, he noted that the National Police have prepared data and continue to provide updates regarding the specific needs on the ground.
In North Aceh and Aceh Tamiang, at least five to six units of heavy equipment have been stationed, consisting of excavators, bulldozers, and dump trucks. “For North Aceh and Aceh Tamiang, approximately five to six pieces of heavy equipment have been prepared to support the acceleration of the response,” he said.
Additionally, five extra units of heavy equipment have been prepared to assist in Aceh Tamiang. Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, the number of operational heavy machines is quite significant.
“In North Sumatra, the Regional Police Chief has prepared equipment at several points; according to the latest data, approximately 21 pieces of heavy equipment are already operational,” he remarked.
Beyond the deployment of heavy machinery, the National Police are also focusing on fulfilling basic community needs, particularly the availability of clean water.
Dedi mentioned that there are approximately 300 clean water facility points that must be built immediately. “Currently, more than 100 are already operational. we continue to pursue this so that the needs of the community can be met immediately,” he said.
He added that in the near future, clean water facilities will be inaugurated in several areas, including North Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, Central Tapanuli, and West Sumatra, covering Agam and Padang Panjang. This step, he said, is a form of the National Police's commitment to supporting the acceleration of post-disaster recovery and ensuring that the basic needs of the community are well-fulfilled. ***
