KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s iconic intellectual property (IP) Garuda di Dadaku was launched as an animated film on Saturday, December 20, 2025, aiming to captivate a new generation and strengthen the country’s creative economy.

Produced by BASE Entertainment and KAWI Animation, the adaptation introduces Garuda, Gaga, and aspiring soccer player Putra, underscoring how local IPs can drive innovation and cross-sector collaboration.

“Transforming Garuda di Dadaku into animation demonstrates how local IP can continue to thrive, reach younger audiences, and generate economic value. This animation is more than entertainment. It is part of a strategy to strengthen the creative ecosystem, encourage innovation, and open opportunities for cross-sector collaboration,” said Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya in a press statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, December 20, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that expanding local IP across creative industries reinforces the creative economy's role as a new engine of growth, capable of driving industry, expanding markets, and showcasing the competitiveness of Indonesian creations on the global stage.

He also stressed the importance of developing local IP across different mediums to ensure Indonesian creative works remain relevant and competitive.

Their relationship is central to a story that highlights courage, friendship, and personal growth.

Producer Shanty Harmayn of BASE Entertainment explained that the adaptation aims to bring the IP closer to and more relevant for younger audiences. “Garuda di Dadaku is an IP that resonates with the memories of many Indonesians. Through animation, we present its story in a warm, relatable way, focusing on the characters and emotions of children,” she said.
