KBRN, Banda Aceh: Several cross-village access roads and residential areas in various regions of Aceh that were affected by flooding are still under repair.
The flooding damaged not only residents' homes but also connecting roads between villages and environmental facilities that serve as main access points for community activities.
Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, also known as Mualem, stated that although some of the damaged roads are not national roads, they are vital for mobility and daily life.
"The damage is not only to residents' homes, but also to cross-village roads. Although they are not national roads, they are critical to the community. Currently, repairs are being carried out in stages," Mualem said on Monday, December 29, 2025.
He mentioned that several road sections remain impassable, including those in the Sawang area. The repair process is ongoing. However, it will extend to all affected areas depending on the extent of the damage and on-the-ground needs.
"Everything will follow. There is a response. It's just being done in stages. We're immediately distributing available supplies to the locations most in need," he said.
Regarding the evacuees' condition, Mualem ensured that their logistical needs are being met. The availability of food and necessities, including those needed for the fasting month, is guaranteed.
"Thank God, the evacuees' needs are currently being met," he said.
As a temporary measure, the central government has begun distributing family tents as temporary housing for flood-affected residents. Additionally, construction of temporary housing has already started, particularly in areas with severe damage, such as Deming, North Aceh, and East Aceh.
While not all facilities will be ready for immediate use, the Aceh Provincial Administration has committed to commencing construction of temporary housing and the initial stages of recovery next year. Progress is expected to be visible soon.
"We ask the public to be patient. God willing, the response will continue and be carried out in stages until all affected areas are addressed," Mualem concluded. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
