Indonesia Names 25-Player Long List for AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026

KBRN, Jakarta: Fresh off their gold medal triumph at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, the Indonesian national futsal team has announced a 25-player long list for the upcoming 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, which will be hosted in Indonesia starting late January.

The announcement comes shortly after Hector Souto’s squad sealed their SEA Games glory with a commanding 6–1 victory over host nation Thailand in the final match, Antara reported.

According to the team’s official Instagram account on Monday, December 29, 2025, Bintang Timur Surabaya contributed the largest contingent, with seven players named: Ahmad Habiebie, Rio Pangestu, Mochammad Iqbal, Guntur Sulistyo, Firman Ardiansyah, Syauqi Saud, and Samuel Eko.

Close behind is Black Steel FC, represented by five players: Muhammad Albagir, Ardiansyah Nur, Bryan Ick, Evan Soumilena, and Kris Daniel Yeimo.

The long list will be trimmed in accordance with tournament regulations before the competition begins. Indonesia, as host nation, has been drawn into Group A alongside Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, and South Korea.

Two venues will stage the tournament: Indonesia Arena and Jakarta International Velodrome. The opening match, set for January 27, will see Indonesia face South Korea at Indonesia Arena.

Since its inception in Malaysia in 1999, Iran has dominated the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, winning 13 of 17 editions. Their most recent triumph came in 2024, when they defeated hosts Thailand 4–1 in the final.

Indonesia has participated in the tournament 10 times, with their best result coming in 2022 in Kuwait, where they reached the quarterfinals. ***
