KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Government officially reconnected several isolated regions on Saturday, December 27, 2025, by completing 10 emergency bailey bridges across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Following the devastating floods and landslides in late November that paralyzed 80 national roads and 33 bridges, the Government Communication Board (Bakom) RI in a press release, confirmed that these temporary structures, including four in Aceh, two in North Sumatra, and four in West Sumatra are now fully operational.
This massive joint effort between the Ministry of Public Works, the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) ensures that local communities are no longer cut off from essential logistics and mobilization.
As quoted by Antara, in Aceh, the completed projects include the 39-meter Teupin Mane Bridge, the 30-meter Teupin Redeup Bridge, the 18-meter Jeumpa Bridge, and the 15-meter Matang Bangka Bridge, all located in Bireun Regency. The North Sumatra section features the 33-meter Anggoli Bridge in Central Tapanuli Regency and the 26-meter Aran Dalu Bridge in Deli Serdang Regency.
The developments in West Sumatra cover the 18-meter Sikabau Bridge in West Pasaman Regency and the 30-meter Padang Mantuang Bridge in Padang Pariaman Regency. Rounding out the list are two structures in Solok Regency: the 21-meter Bawah Kubang Bridge and the 36-meter Supayang Bridge.
All of these bridges are now open to the public and have successfully reconnected areas that were previously isolated due to natural disasters. The construction of these bailey bridges has been a primary government focus since flash floods and landslides struck Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra in late November.
This step was taken to restore connectivity to regions that were cut off following the widespread destruction of transportation infrastructure. Based on data from the Ministry of Public Works (PU), the disaster initially paralyzed 80 national road sections and 33 bridges across the three impacted provinces.
The Ministry of Public Works, TNI, BNPB, and various other agencies continue to work together to accelerate the recovery of all infrastructure. Their collaborative efforts aim to restore full mobilization and logistics to the affected regions as quickly as possible. ***
