KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia announced on Saturday, December 27, 2025, a massive state-led emergency operation to restore power to 224 blackout-stricken villages in Aceh.
Under the President's direct orders, the Ministry is utilizing five the Indonesian National Air Force (TNI AU) Hercules aircraft to deploy 1,000 generator sets and 3,000 gas stoves to 10 regencies, including Aceh Tamiang, Bener Meriah, Aceh Tengah, and Gayo Lues, where infrastructure was destroyed by late November floods.
This first phase of intervention ensures that residents receive immediate energy services while PLN continues permanent repairs on the damaged grid.
"In our records, there are still 224 villages in Aceh Province that have not been electrified. So, in order to provide maximum service, we held a meeting with the team and spoke with PLN," Minister Bahlil said at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday, December 27, 2025, as quoted by Antara.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has dispatched aid consisting of 1,000 generator sets (gensets) and 3,000 gas stoves for residents affected by the floods in the Aceh and Sumatra regions.
“Thus, under the President's direction, we are trying to optimize the full strength of the state. Therefore, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is today sending 1,000 units of gensets with an average capacity of 5–7 kVA,” Minister Bahlil affirmed.
Commander of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, First Marshal TNI Erwin Sugiandi, explained that the shipment utilized five Hercules planes, with each aircraft carrying 200 gensets. Two planes landed in Lhokseumawe, two in Rembele, and one in Banda Aceh.
“All aircraft missions are to carry gensets from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources,” he said.
Minister Bahlil emphasized that the 1,000 gensets sent currently represent only the first phase of assistance. As long as the electrical infrastructure in the region has not recovered, he noted that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will continue to intervene by sending further aid like generators.
Regarding the fuel supply for these 1,000 gensets, Minister Bahlil mentioned that an integrated team has been formed with Pertamina Patra Niaga. “Our colleagues at Pertamina Patra Niaga will supply the fuel so that our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster can quickly experience the state's services, especially in the energy sector,” he concluded. ***
