RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to make a special visit to Jakarta on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the invitation of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
According to a statement from Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry received by RRI on Thursday, March 26, the visit will focus on current geopolitical developments -- particularly the conflict in West Asia -- and its impact on regional stability and the global economy, including implications for both Malaysia and Indonesia.
“These developments require comprehensive, careful, and coordinated discussions between the two countries, especially to align positions and strengthen strategic cooperation in responding to the situation,” the ministry said.
In this context, both leaders are expected to intensify diplomatic efforts to ease tensions and safeguard the continuity of global trade routes and supply chains, which are vital to the welfare of their peoples.
“The meeting will also underscore the importance of reinforcing ASEAN’s role as a united and principled bloc, enabling collective action to preserve peace, maintain regional stability, and ensure economic resilience amid global uncertainty,” the statement added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Anwar voiced support for Indonesia’s diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate the Middle East conflict. He told Bernama news agency that he had conveyed this position directly to President Prabowo in a phone conversation.
“We both called for peace, and I informed President Prabowo that Malaysia supports all efforts aimed at achieving peace and resolving the conflict,” Anwar said. (Sri Wahyuni/Bambang MBKA)
