RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s humanitarian commitment to Palestine has once again been demonstrated, with the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) distributing 33,917 food aid packages to residents in Gaza, Khan Younis, and Jerusalem.
The initiative highlights how community contributions of zakat, infak, and sadaqah are being transformed into tangible support for families living under severe economic and security pressures.
Baznas Secretary Subhan Cholid explained that despite restrictions and limited access in conflict-affected areas, the agency’s teams worked to ensure the aid reached those most vulnerable, including the elderly and children.
“This distribution reflects the compassion of the Indonesian people at the heart of Palestine. We want our brothers and sisters there to know they are not alone in facing these difficult times,” he said in a statement from Jakarta on Friday, March 13, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Each package contains nutritious staples designed to meet daily dietary needs. Subhan emphasized that Baznas is strengthening partnerships with local organizations to guarantee consistent and targeted delivery, particularly in Gaza and Jerusalem.
Beyond immediate relief, the program seeks to ease the mounting economic burden on Palestinian families. Subhan noted that the initiative is part of Baznas’s broader, sustained commitment to supporting Palestinian resilience through structured humanitarian programs.
“Every package we send is more than just food; it also carries a message of solidarity and love from the people of Indonesia. We are determined to keep this lifeline flowing to help safeguard food security for families in Palestine,” Subhan concluded. ***
