RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has strengthened its seafood export portfolio with the shipment of two tons of dried flying fish roe from Makassar to Xiamen, China, via air freight.
The export highlights the competitiveness of Takalar’s marine commodities in South Sulawesi, which continue to meet international market standards and showcase strong global demand.
Head of South Sulawesi Quarantine, Sitti Chadidjah, emphasized on Sunday, January 18, 2026, that all products underwent rigorous inspection before departure to ensure quality and safety.
“We have ensured that 100 cartons of flying fish roe passed a series of quarantine procedures. Based on the inspection, the commodity was declared healthy, its quality assured, and compliant with the requirements of the destination country,” she said, as quoted by
Antara.According to Sitti, this achievement reinforces the position of South Sulawesi’s fisheries in the global market. The successful export also signals positive momentum for the regional economy, demonstrating the high added value of marine resources from Takalar waters.
The breakthrough into the Chinese market is expected to serve as a catalyst for other fisheries businesses in South Sulawesi, encouraging them to scale up production and expand their reach internationally.
Sitti further noted that sustainable export growth depends not only on transaction value but also on market trust in the quality and safety of Indonesian products.
“When destination countries trust Indonesia’s quarantine standards, it means confidence in our entire trade system increases,” she added. ***
