KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesia Futsal Federation (FFI) has officially released the list of 19 players selected for the national team’s training camp, a crucial step in preparation for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026, where Indonesia will serve as host.

The Garuda squad will begin training in Jakarta on January 5, 2026, focusing on tactical development and physical conditioning ahead of the tournament, which kicks off on January 27.

Competition within the camp is expected to be intense. Of the 19 players called up, only 14 will secure a place in the final squad.

Head Coach Héctor Souto emphasized the importance of squad depth, noting that his strategy is designed to ensure reliable backup options.

Regarding several high-profile names not included in the camp, Souto clarified that they remain on standby status. “Players on the long list who are not joining this camp are still vital to the team’s framework,” he said on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. “They are positioned as ready-to-call replacements.”

This approach, he explained, is meant to safeguard squad depth and provide flexibility in case of changes or unforeseen circumstances. Standby players will be available to step in whenever needed.

The training camp marks a pivotal phase in the team’s preparation. Every player must deliver peak performance to earn a spot, as only the best will represent Indonesia in front of home supporters. 

Competing at the continental level demands maximum readiness. The Jakarta camp will serve as a proving ground for the 19 selected players, all vying for 14 seats in the final Asian Cup roster. With Indonesia as host, preparations are being taken seriously, with the clear goal of performing at the highest level and bringing pride to the nation.
