KBRN, Jakarta: In a major move to prevent the financial collapse of local entrepreneurs in disaster-stricken Sumatra, the Indonesian Ministry of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) has established the "MSMEs Bangkit Clinics" to provide immediate loan relief and capital support.
Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman announced on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, that the government is collaborating with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Ministry of Finance to provide a legal safety net for debtors in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. This program functions by mapping the specific needs of each business until March 2026, followed by the distribution of essential production equipment and financial restructuring to help businesses return to normal operations within twelve months.
The clinics will be managed by local administrations to streamline financial services for entrepreneurs struggling with debt. “Commanded by the local administration, this clinic is tasked with managing financing services by ensuring that disaster-affected MSMEs that are recorded and have credit obligations at banks receive loan relaxation and sufficient business capital,” he said in a press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In addition to financial aid, these clinics will serve as commercial hubs to promote and sell local products from the three affected provinces. By marketing these goods both within and outside the provinces, the government aims to revitalize the local economy while meeting the community's daily needs.
The clinics are also designed to provide production support for businesses that were forced to halt operations due to the disasters. Essential production equipment and facilities will be provided through this service to ensure that entrepreneurs can resume their activities immediately.
Maman emphasized that a cross-ministerial effort is underway to provide a legal safety net for debtors in these regions. He noted that the government, together with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), has prepared regulations to provide relief for MSMEs with credit burdens can obtain relief.
The recovery initiative will be strategically located across eight sites in the three flood-affected provinces. “God willing, the framework has been prepared until the MSME economy in Aceh and other regions recovers and returns to normal,” Maman remarked.
To further stimulate local trade, the government is reactivating the Kuala Simpang Morning Market in Aceh Tamiang Regency. This move is intended to allow traders to return to work and help residents fulfill their daily household requirements.
Initial support includes the setup of 140 relief tents to serve as temporary trading spots for displaced vendors. The local administration also plans to add approximately 200 more tents to accommodate a larger number of active traders in the area. ***
