Electric Pedicabs Bring New Hope for Blora’s Drivers

KBRN, Blora: Blora’s rickshaw drivers are set to benefit from a cleaner, more sustainable future with the introduction of 100 electric pedicabs, a donation from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto through the National Solidarity Movement (GSN) Foundation. The vehicles were officially handed over by Blora Deputy Regent Sri Setyorini at the Regency Hall on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

Sri Setyorini expressed gratitude for the president’s attention to the livelihoods of small communities, particularly rickshaw drivers.

“On behalf of the Blora Regency Administration and the people of Blora, we thank President Prabowo Subianto, through GSN, for this assistance. We hope these electric pedicabs will improve the welfare of rickshaw drivers,” she said as quoted by InfoPublik.

She emphasized that the vehicles are more than just a mode of transport; they are essential tools for earning a living. The introduction of electric pedicabs is expected to ease workloads, safeguard health, and boost productivity and income. The local administration, she added, is committed to ensuring the aid is used effectively and sustainably.

GSN’s Director of Business Planning and Development, retired Major General Firman Dahlan, noted that the initiative is designed not only to raise incomes but also to provide an environmentally friendly transport solution that helps reduce pollution. He encouraged the Blora administration to prepare charging facilities and urged the Transportation Office to establish safe and suitable routes for the new vehicles.

In addition to the pedicabs, the Blora regency aministration distributed 100 packages of basic food supplies to pedicab drivers as supplementary support.

Recipients welcomed the program enthusiastically, voicing hopes that the arrival of electric pedicabs would enhance their welfare and improve their quality of life. ***
