Government Provides Financial Support, Housing for Disaster-Affected Communities

KBRN, Jakarta:
Indonesia’s Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, said the government is
preparing financial support and accelerating the provision of housing to
significantly reduce the number of displaced people. The preparation is also to
speed up the recovery of affected communities in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North
Sumatra.

During a Press
Conference on Disaster Response Developments in Jakarta,  Monday (12/29/2025), he conveyed the financial
assistance will be provided to residents whose homes sustained light to
moderate damage to accelerate housing recovery.

“The main
concept is that financial support of Rp15 million will be provided for lightly
damaged homes and Rp30 million for moderately damaged homes. Meanwhile,
residents whose homes were severely damaged will be provided with temporary
housing,” the Minister said.

Meanwhile,
residents whose homes suffered severe damage will be accommodated in temporary
shelters while awaiting the construction of permanent housing, which will be
funded through the state budget (APBN), Danantara, and mutual cooperation
schemes involving other parties.

“There are
three concepts for permanent housing. First, 15,000 units will be funded by
Danantara. Second, a much larger number will be funded through the state budget
and implemented by the Ministry of Public Housing and Settlement Areas. Third,
there is a mutual cooperation scheme involving parties willing to contribute,”
he said.

The Minister
also mentioned the government is providing basic necessities and economic
recovery support to assist communities during the post-disaster transition
period.

“For lightly
and moderately damaged homes, financial assistance will be provided after
debris clearance, including support from BNPB. Additional assistance includes
household furnishings worth Rp3 million from the Ministry of Social Affairs,
economic recovery support of Rp5 million, as well as food assistance amounting
to Rp15,000 for three months,” Tito said.
