KBRN, Jakarta: Prioritizing the recovery of educational facilities and community access, the Head of the Gunung Leuser National Park (BBTNGL), Subhan, announced a 90% progress milestone in the cleanup of Aceh Tamiang on Monday, December 29, 2025.
The joint recovery team has been systematically removing massive timber piles and mud from schools, mosques, and homes across villages like Geudumbak and Aek Ngadol. Utilizing a fleet of excavators and dump trucks provided by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and corporate partners, the mission ensures that students can soon return to their classrooms and villagers can regain mobility through previously blocked routes.
In Aceh Tamiang Regency specifically, a joint team of 80 Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) personnel and 80 TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) personnel, and 30 Police personnel is cleaning the Darul Mukhlisin Islamic Boarding School with 37 units of heavy equipment.
"The joint team has completed the cleaning of 12 classrooms, two teacher offices, and one mosque ablution area, while also assisting in cleaning residents' houses around the affected locations," Subhan said, as quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, in the Langkahan Subdistrict of North Aceh Regency, the clearing of access roads and residential areas continues with the support of six excavators. The accessible road in Geudumbak Village has increased by 200 meters, bringing the total traversable path to 4.85 kilometers.
In North Sumatra Province, cleaning activities are being carried out in the villages of Aek Ngadol, Garoga, and Huta Godang, focusing on wood removal and mud transport. These integrated operations are supported by 17 units of heavy equipment and 14 dump trucks from Kemenhut, TNI, BNPB, SOEs, and corporate partners.
Head of the North Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA), Novita Kusuma Wardani, emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is the key to accelerating recovery. "Cleaning in North Sumatra is carried out in a coordinated manner under the command of regional task forces, with the aim of accelerating the recovery of the environment and community activities," Novita concluded. ***
