Indonesia Team Reaches ASEAN U-16 Futsal Final

KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian U-16 national futsal team secured a dramatic ticket to the 2025 ASEAN U-16 Boys' Futsal Championship final after battling to a 3-3 draw against hosts Thailand on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Playing at Nonthanburi Hall, Bangkok, Thailand, the "Garuda Muda" squad advanced as runners-up with eight points, setting up a highly anticipated rematch against the 10-point Thai leaders in the grand final this Monday night, December 29, 2025.

Muhamad Dafa Ramadan scored twice for Indonesia, while Hetson Messi Hamonangan Sirait added a third to complete the team's tally. Thailand's goals were contributed by captain Sunet Thanapob and a brace from Wangsilpakhun Punno.

Indonesia opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Muhammad Dafa Ramadan to lead the first half 2-1. "Following a kick-in play, the ball was passed to Dafa and immediately executed with a hard shot," the report noted regarding the opening goal, as quoted by Antara.

The ball flew rapidly into the left side of the Thai goal, which was guarded by Samralshuk Thanathip. This goal changed the score to 1-0 and prompted Thailand to intensify their attacks to equalize.

Three minutes later, Thailand’s captain Sunet Thanapob managed to break through Indonesia’s defense, guarded by Azmi Anugrah, with an unmarked powerful shot. The ball flowed heavily into the right side of the Indonesian net, bringing the temporary score to 1-1.

Dafa Ramadan became a nightmare for the hosts again when his speed allowed him to score his second goal in the 11th minute. "Using individual technique, he bypassed three Thai players, including the goalkeeper, to make the score 2-1," the match highlights detailed.

The first half ended with Indonesia holding a 2-1 lead after both teams failed to convert further chances. In the second half, Indonesia played more aggressively to seek an early goal and nearly scored when Fikri Fauzan’s shot hit the post.

Indonesia eventually extended their lead to 3-1 after Hetson Sirait successfully found the back of the net. However, Thailand managed to reduce the gap to 2-3 through a powerful strike by Punno in the 10th minute of the second half.

The hosts found an equalizer through Punno’s second goal, which was assisted by Petchtiam Boonyarit, making the score 3-3. Thailand almost completed a comeback via a penalty, but fortunately for Indonesia, Boonyarit's strike hit the post and failed to result in a goal.

The match remained tight until the final whistle, with no additional goals scored, ending the game in a 3-3 draw. The Indonesian lineup featured Azmi Anugrah, Akmal Nashrur Rizki (captain), Alfian Nurhayadi, Hetson Messi Hamonangan Sirait, and Muhammad Fauzan As Shidik.

Coach Raka Cahya Punthoadi led the Indonesian side, while Thailand was managed by Coach Sriwijit Patt. The Thai lineup consisted of Samralshuk Thanathip, Sunet Thanapob (captain), Srisuwan Narawit, Petchtiam Boonyarit, and Wangsilpakhun Punno. ***
