RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta -The Ministry of Transmigration aims for 1,000 to 1,100 selected students from seven national public universities to receive the Patriot Scholarship, which is planned to be launched for the first time next month.
Minister of Transmigration, Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, stated that the universities partnering with the program are the University of Indonesia (UI), IPB University, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Padjadjaran University (UNPAD), Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology Surabaya (ITS).
"We really want to produce highly superior human resources, not just superior human resources, but truly outstanding ones," Minister Iftitah conveyed in Jakarta on Sunday, 18 January 2026.
He stated that the selection stage for scholarship recipients is currently being discussed with various relevant parties.
Based on the initial discussion, prospective scholarship recipients will later be required to first be accepted at one of the seven partner state universities. "Only after that is there a central test. Now, we will delve into the psychology of this central test (for each applicant)," he said.
The selection process also evaluated the roadmaps prepared by the participants regarding their planned career paths during their education and after graduation.
"Including, we will also look at the relevant roadmap of the candidate, as well as what their career path will be like in the future. So, we want to get human resources who can really be expected to contribute to better changes (for the transmigrant community)," Iftitah stated.
Later, the recipients of the Patriot Scholarship will pursue their education at the three Patriot Campuses currently being built by the Ministry of Transportation, namely in Batam, Riau Islands; Mamuju, West Sulawesi; and Merauke, South Papua. The three locations were chosen based on the economic potential of each region.
