RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: The Indonesian government facilitated the repatriation of 96 Indonesian citizens and migrant workers from Saudi Arabia. This was announced by Yvonne Mewengkang, Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah facilitated the repatriation of 96 Indonesian citizens from Saudi Arabia. Ninety-five of them were repatriated from the Syumaisi Immigration Detention Center in Mecca, consisting of 11 men and 84 women. The Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah also facilitated the special repatriation of one Indonesian citizen who was paralyzed due to illness," Yvonne said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

This was done as part of comprehensive protection efforts. They arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, on Friday, January 16, 2026.

The repatriation is the result of intensive work by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah. This includes the issuance of Travel Documents in Lieu of Passports (SPLP) for all Indonesian citizens and migrant workers.

Upon arrival, the Directorate for Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with relevant agencies for the arrival process, handover, and follow-up according to regulations.

"The Indonesian government remains committed to providing maximum protection, service, and assistance to Indonesian citizens and migrant workers, including ensuring safe and smooth repatriation," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson. (Misni Parjiati/Bambang MBKA)
